Know them before you play

How the rules work

  • They apply everywhereOn the server, in our Discord and on this website.
  • Not knowing is no excusePlaying on Code Blue means you accept these rules. They're public so nobody can say they didn't know.
  • Loopholes don't countIf something goes against what a rule is for, it breaks that rule even if it isn't listed. Not sure? Ask with /helpop before you do it.
  • Your account, your responsibilityEverything done on your account counts as you, including by a friend, sibling or anyone you let use it.
  • One player, every accountA punishment covers every account you own. Alts are at your own risk (see section 7).
  • History countsStaff see your full record. Serious or repeated breaks can skip steps on the ladder.

Punishments

Every rule has a severity. The first time you break a rule you get the first step, the next time the next step. Past the last step, every break gets at least the last step. Chat rules end in mutes, the rest in bans.

1Chat and conduct

Public chat, private messages, signs, books, Discord and anywhere else you can type. Swearing is allowed as long as it isn't aimed at anyone, and the profanity filter hides it from every player who keeps the filter on.

Spam

Keep chat readable for everyone.

Not allowed

  • Sending the same or a similar message more than twice in a minute
  • Messages written mostly in capital letters
  • Flooding chat with symbols, random characters or empty lines
  • Spamming /msg, /helpop or other commands at players or staff

Allowed

  • Reposting your own trade offer, with a few minutes between posts
  • Capitals for a single word, like a name or GG

  • Trash talk between friends who are both in on it

The moment the other player says it isn't okay, it isn't okay.

Hate speech and slurs

Major

No hate towards anyone for who they are.

  • Slurs, including censored, misspelled, spaced out or partial versions

Dodging the profanity filter

Minor

The profanity filter is on for every player until they turn it off in /settings. It shows swear words as ****. Don't try to get around it.

Not allowed

  • Spacing, symbols, misspellings or look-alike letters so swearing gets past the filter
  • Pressuring other players to turn their filter off

Allowed

  • Turning your own filter off in /settings

The filter only changes what players see, not what's allowed. Swearing at someone (1.3, 1.7) and slurs (1.4) are punished whether the filter caught them or not.

2Advertising and links

Code Blue is not a place to promote anything else.

Advertising

Moderate

Don't promote other servers, communities or services.

Not allowed

  • Naming or sharing the address of another Minecraft server to get players to join it
  • Posting invites or links to other Discord servers, stores or services
  • Asking players to move to somewhere else
  • Advertising through names, skins, signs, gang names or item names

  • Mentioning another server in normal conversation, like where you used to play

Unsafe links

Major

Never post a link that could harm someone.

  • Links to downloads, IP grabbers, phishing or fake login pages
  • Shortened or disguised links that hide where they go

3Names, skins and gangs

Everything other players can see about you follows the chat rules too.

3.1

Inappropriate names and skins

Moderate

Usernames, skins, capes, gang names and item names must follow every chat rule.

Not allowed

  • A name, skin or cape that would break any rule in section 1 or 2
  • Gang names and renamed items that would break any rule in section 1 or 2
  • A name or skin made to look like a staff member or another player (see 8.1)

You'll also be told to change it. You can't be unbanned until it's changed.

4Clients, mods and automation

Every block you mine and every click you make has to be you, playing. If a mod isn't on the allowed list, ask with /helpop before you use it. Asking after you're caught doesn't count.

Cheats and unfair mods

Major

No client, mod or resource pack that gives you an advantage over other players.

Not allowed

  • Hacked clients, like Wurst, Meteor or Aristois, or cheat features in any client
  • X-ray mods or resource packs, cave finders and ore highlighters
  • ESP, tracers, entity radar, or minimaps that show players through walls
  • Freecam, Baritone or anything else that walks, pathfinds or mines for you

Allowed

  • Performance mods and shaders: Sodium, Lithium, Iris, OptiFine
  • Lunar, Badlion and Feather clients with their built-in features
  • HUD mods: armor and potion status, coordinates, keystrokes, CPS counter
  • Zoom, fullbright, and minimaps with player radar and cave view turned off

Autoclickers and macros

Major

Each click and keypress has to be a single press by you.

Not allowed

  • Autoclickers, whether a program, a mod or a mouse feature
  • Macros and scripts that repeat or chain actions
  • Drag clicking
  • Mouse software or settings that add clicks, like a lowered debounce time

  • Holding your mouse button down to mine
  • Jitter or butterfly clicking with your own fingers

AFK mining

Moderate

Mining income is earned at the pickaxe. Nothing may mine on your behalf.

  • Weighing down, taping or wedging keys or buttons to mine while you're away
  • Any mod, macro or program that keeps you mining or moving

  • Being AFK anywhere while not mining

5Exploits and bugs

Found something broken? Report it privately with /ticket, then Bug report. Never in chat.

Using bugs and dupes

Major

Don't use anything that isn't working the way it's meant to.

Not allowed

  • Duplicating items, currency or anything else
  • Using a bug to get money, tokens, shards, gems, levels or items you didn't earn
  • Getting into places you aren't meant to reach
  • Carrying on using something once you realise it's a bug

Allowed

  • Reporting a bug with /ticket and not using it again

Everything gained is removed, and staff may reset your balances and items.

Spreading exploits

Major

Don't tell, show or sell anyone how to use a bug.

Lagging or crashing the server

Never try to slow down or take down the server.

6Trading, scamming and gambling

Trade fairly. Keep screenshots of every deal, because staff can only act on what can be shown.

6.1

Scamming

Moderate

If you agree to a deal, keep your end of it.

Not allowed

  • Taking payment or items and not giving what you agreed
  • Changing the deal after the other player has paid
  • Lying about what someone is getting, like a renamed item or a fake price
  • Acting as a middleman and keeping what you were trusted to hold
  • Taking payment for a service, like mining or boosting, and not doing it

Allowed

  • A deal you agreed to that turned out bad for you, so check before you pay
  • Backing out before anything has changed hands

When staff can confirm a scam, they may take back what was taken and return it.

Real-money trading

Major

Nothing on Code Blue is bought or sold for anything outside Code Blue, except through the official store.

Not allowed

  • Buying or selling money, tokens, shards, gems, items, ranks or accounts for real money, gift cards or crypto
  • Trading anything on Code Blue for items or currency on another server or game

Allowed

  • Buying from the official Code Blue store

Everything involved is removed from both players.

Player-run gambling

Moderate

The casino is the only place to gamble.

  • Hosting bets, raffles or lotteries that players pay to enter
  • Betting money, tokens, shards, gems or items against other players on anything

  • Playing slots, roulette, dice and crash in the casino
  • Giveaways that are free to enter

7Accounts and alts

Play on one account. Alts aren't banned, but they're strongly discouraged and entirely at your own risk: staff give little to no help with anything that happens on them.

Punishment evasion

Zero tolerance

Serve your punishment. Don't find a way around it.

Not allowed

  • Joining on another account while you're banned
  • Talking through another account, or someone else's, while you're muted
  • Using a VPN or a new account to get around a ban

Every account you own, and any new one, is banned permanently.

Alt abuse

Moderate

If you use an alt anyway, it follows every rule and can't get you anything meant to be once per player.

Not allowed

  • Claiming rewards that are meant to be once per player on more than one account
  • Using alts to push yourself or your gang up a leaderboard
  • Using alts to get around a limit, a cooldown or a punishment

Everything gained through alts is removed. Anything lost on an alt, like items, currency, a scammed trade or a ban that catches your other accounts, is not refunded or reviewed.

8Staff and reports

Staff are here to help. Work with them, even when you disagree.

Impersonation

  • Claiming to be staff, or to speak for staff

Reports and appeals

Report a player

Use /report <player> and pick what they did. Screenshots or video help, uncropped with chat visible.

Report a bug

Use /ticket, then Bug report. Keep it out of chat, and don't use the bug while you wait.

Appeal a punishment

Appeal on our Discord. Say which punishment and why. Arguing in chat won't help (8.4).

Changes to the rules

  1. Rules rewritten: every rule is numbered, with examples of what is and isn't allowed, and the punishments are published.
